the sale of cucumber crops and the like is permissible according to this view. Allah knows best. All praise is due to Allah.

He was asked:

A sick man asked someone to treat him and cover his expenses, and he did so. Is the person who paid entitled to demand reimbursement from the sick man?

He replied:

If he covered the expenses expecting reimbursement, whether expressly stipulated or understood by custom, he is entitled to demand reimbursement. Allah knows best.

He was asked:

A blind man was made party to a written lease. Is his lease valid?

He replied:

A blind person’s renting and purchasing are valid according to the majority of scholars, including Mālik, Abū Hanīfah, and Imam Ahmad according to the well-known position reported from him. The item purchased or rented must be described to him. If he finds that it does not match the description, he has the right to rescind the contract.

يَجُوزُ بَيْعُ المقاثي وَغَيْرِهَا عَلَى هَذَا الْقَوْلِ. وَاَللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ. وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ. وَسُئِلَ: عَنْ مَرِيضٍ طَلَبَ مِنْ رَجُلٍ أَنْ يُطَبِّبَهُ وَيُنْفِقَ عَلَيْهِ فَفَعَلَ. فَهَلْ لِلْمُنْفِقِ أَنْ يُطَالِبَ الْمَرِيضَ بِالنَّفَقَةِ؟ . فَأَجَابَ: إنْ كَانَ يُنْفِقُ طَالِبًا لِلْعِوَضِ لَفْظًا أَوْ عُرْفًا فَلَهُ الْمُطَالَبَةُ بِالْعِوَضِ. وَاَللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ. وَسُئِلَ: عَنْ رَجُلٍ ضَرِيرٍ كُتِبَتْ عَلَيْهِ إجَارَةٌ. فَهَلْ تَصِحُّ إجَارَتُهُ؟ . فَأَجَابَ: يَصِحُّ اسْتِئْجَارُ الْأَعْمَى وَاشْتِرَاؤُهُ عِنْدَ جُمْهُورِ الْعُلَمَاءِ: كَمَالِكِ وَأَبِي حَنِيفَةَ وَالْإِمَامِ أَحْمَد فِي الْمَشْهُورِ عَنْهُ. وَلَا بُدَّ أَنْ يُوصَفَ لَهُ الْمَبِيع وَالْمُسْتَأْجَرُ. فَإِنْ وَجَدَهُ بِخِلَافِ الصِّفَةِ فَلَهُ الْفَسْخُ.
