He was also asked:
A man stamps cloth, and another man lodges with him. If the man claims that the rent comes from a source other than his earnings, is it permissible to accept it?
He replied:
If he has another lawful source of income, states that he is paying the rent from it, and is thought likely to be telling the truth, [it is permissible] (1) to accept it. If he is not thought likely to be lying, he may be believed in this matter, provided he is not known to be lying.
He—may Allah have mercy on him—was also asked:
Is a cupper’s fee unlawful? Does food he prepares with his hands become ritually impure? Did the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, pay the cupper his fee? What reports prohibit it?
Has it been reported in a hadith that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:
“Healing for my community lies in three things: a verse from the Book of Allah, a lick of honey, or a cupping treatment administered by a cupper”?
How, then, did he prohibit this, yet prescribe it here as a treatment and describe it as a cure?
