He—may Allah have mercy on him—was also asked:

A man purchased ten pairs of goods in a single lot, then stated the purchase cost of one pair by dividing the total price among the pairs, without adding or subtracting anything. Is this lawful or not?

He replied:

Praise be to Allah. If he accurately explains the purchase, stating that he bought the pair together with the others and apportioned the price among them all, so that the share attributable to this pair was such-and-such and to that pair such-and-such, then this is truthfulness and clarity in their truest sense. The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:

“The buyer and seller retain the option to cancel the sale until they part. If they are truthful and make matters clear, their transaction will be blessed; but if they conceal information and lie, the blessing of their transaction will be erased.”

And Allah Most High knows best.
