He was asked:
A man died—may Allah Most High have mercy on him—leaving three children and a property. One of his sons was an adult. He demolished part of the property and rebuilt it, married, and had children there, while the other heirs remained inactive. When they requested a division of the estate, he intended to demolish the building. What is the ruling?
He replied:
Their rights to the land remain intact. As for the building, if he built it entirely with his own funds, rather than from the original property, he may remove it. However, he must compensate them for the original building that belonged to them. If he rebuilt it using the original inheritance, it belongs to them.
He—may Allah have mercy on him—was asked:
Regarding dressing boys in silk on festivals and other occasions: may an orphan’s guardian dress him in silk or not? If he does so, is he sinful or not? Likewise, is gilding their caps permissible or not?
