a loan, in which only the equivalent must be repaid, without any addition.
If he were to rent him wheat or the like for him to use and then return its equivalent together with rent, this would be a loan stipulating an addition to the equivalent repaid.
This disagreement concerns a case in which he leases the land to him at its fair rental value and provides him with a cultivation advance or similar assistance by way of a loan. This is like renting him a shop in which to pursue a craft or trade and lending him what he needs to establish that craft or trade. But if he charges more than the fair rental value because of the loan, there is no good in this; rather, it is a loan that yields usurious gain.
