—the jinn—although He created them. And without knowledge they have falsely attributed sons and daughters to Him. Glory be to Him! He is exalted above what they describe.”

And the words of the Most High:

“They say, ‘The Most Merciful has taken a child.’ Glory be to Him! Rather, they are honored servants. They do not speak before He speaks, and they act at His command. He knows what is before them and what is behind them. They intercede only for those with whom He is pleased, and they stand in awe of Him.”

The Most High also says:

“The Messiah would never disdain to be a servant of Allah, nor would the angels brought near to Him.”

And the Most High says:

“They say, ‘The Most Merciful has taken a child.’ You have indeed uttered something monstrous! The heavens almost rupture at it, the earth splits apart, and the mountains collapse in ruins, because they attribute a child to the Most Merciful. It is not fitting for the Most Merciful to take a child. Everyone in the heavens and the earth will come to the Most Merciful as a servant. He has accounted for them and counted them precisely. Each of them will come to Him alone on the Day of Resurrection.”

He thus declares that they are subjected to Him—that is, subdued, directed, held in servitude, and subjugated. They are not like an effect generated by necessity, whose condition cannot conceivably change. He also declares that they are servants of Allah, not to be likened to Him as an effect is likened to its cause or a child to its parent, as these Sabians claim.

The Most High says:

“They say, ‘Allah has taken a child.’ Glory be to Him! Rather, to Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth; all are obedient to Him. He is the Originator of the heavens and the earth. When He decrees a matter, He only says to it, ‘Be,’ and it is.”

He thus declares that He brings about everything by His word “Be,” not through an effect being generated from Him.

Likewise, He says, glorified is He:

“They have assigned partners to Allah—the jinn—although He created them. And without knowledge they have falsely attributed sons and daughters to Him. Glory be to Him! He is exalted above what they describe. He is the Originator of the heavens and the earth. How could He have a child when He has no consort? He created all things, and He has knowledge of all things.”
