Ibn ‘Abbās reports:
“I heard Abū Talha say, ‘I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say, “Angels do not enter a house containing a dog or an image depicting figures.”’”
Likewise, in the two Sahīh collections, ‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Umar reports:
“Gabriel made a promise to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and said, ‘We do not enter a house containing a dog or an image.’”
In the two Sahīh collections, Abū Hurayra reports that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:
“The angels pray for each of you as long as he remains in the place where he prayed, saying, ‘O Allah, forgive him; O Allah, have mercy on him,’ provided he does not invalidate his ablution.”
These and similar texts describe the categories of angels, their attributes, and their actions in ways that rule out their being the “intellects and souls” these people describe, or Gabriel being the “active intellect,” or the angels associated with human beings being good faculties and the devils being corrupt faculties, as these people claim.
Moreover, their claim that the intellects and souls—which they identify as angels—are effects caused by Allah, emanating from His Essence as an effect proceeds from its cause, amounts to saying that they are begotten of Allah and that Allah has begotten the angels.
This is something Allah has rejected and declared Himself free of. He has declared its proponent a liar and exposed the falsehood of this claim through His words:
“He neither begets nor was begotten, and there is none comparable to Him.”
The Most High also says:
“Indeed, it is out of their falsehood that they say, ‘Allah has begotten,’ and they are surely liars. Has He chosen daughters over sons? What is the matter with you? How do you judge? Will you not take heed? Or do you have clear authority? Then bring your scripture, if you are truthful.”
And through His words: “And they have assigned partners to Allah
