He—may Allah have mercy on him—was asked:
A slave belonging to a Muslim residing in the lands of the Tatars fled from his master there and came to Syria, while still enslaved. He now wishes to be sold. Is it permissible for someone to sell him, safeguard the proceeds for his master, and remit them to him?
He answered:
Yes, that is permissible if returning to those lands would harm him in his religion or worldly affairs. In that case, he may be sold here without his master’s permission. And Allah knows best.
He was asked:
A disbeliever living in the lands of the disbelievers owed a debt. He sold himself to a Muslim, received the price, and used it to repay his debt. He also sold his daughter, and they consented to being enslaved. The Muslim merchant bore the costs of their journey, maintenance, and clothing until they reached the lands of Islam. Is it permissible to sell and buy them?
