what Allah has commanded to be joined, fear their Lord, and dread an evil reckoning;
And those who remain patient, seeking their Lord’s Face, establish prayer, spend secretly and openly from what We have provided them, and repel evil with good—it is they who will have the final abode:
Gardens of everlasting residence, which they will enter along with the righteous among their parents, spouses, and descendants. The angels will enter upon them from every gate,
‘Peace be upon you for your patience. How excellent is the final abode!’
But those who break Allah’s covenant after it has been confirmed, sever what Allah has commanded to be joined, and spread corruption on earth—it is they who will be cursed and will have an evil abode.”
He also said:
“Is it that whenever they make a covenant, a group of them casts it aside? Rather, most of them do not believe.”
And He said:
“But righteousness is to believe in Allah, the Last Day, the angels, the Scripture, and the prophets; to give wealth, despite loving it, to relatives, orphans, the needy, stranded travellers, those who ask, and to free slaves; to establish prayer and give zakah; to fulfil covenants when made; and to remain patient in poverty, hardship, and the heat of battle. Those are the ones who have been true, and it is they who are mindful of Allah.”
Allah Most High said:
“Among the People of the Scripture are those who, if you entrust them with a great sum, will return it to you. Yet among them are those who, if you entrust them with a single dinar, will not return it unless you persistently stand over them. That is because they say, ‘We bear no responsibility towards the unlettered.’ They knowingly tell lies about Allah.
On the contrary, whoever fulfils his covenant and fears Allah—then Allah indeed loves those who fear Him.”
And He said:
“Indeed, those who exchange Allah’s covenant and their oaths for a small price will have no share in the Hereafter. Allah will neither speak to them nor look at them on the Day of Resurrection, nor will He purify them. They will have a painful punishment.”
And He said
