two things.
“The first”: Banū ‘Ubayd al-Qaddāh—whose outward profession was Rāfidism and whose inner reality was hypocrisy—would appoint a Jew as vizier at one time and a Christian at another. That Christian brought in a great many people and built many churches.
“The second”: Christian secretaries gaining control over the Muslims’ wealth and deceiving the Muslims however they pleased in their handling of it. Allah knows best. May Allah bless Muhammad.
The shaykh—may Allah have mercy on him—said:
You know that, praise be to Allah, we enjoy tremendous blessings, immense favors, abundant bounties, and gifts heaped one upon another—things that most people had never conceived of or imagined. All praise is due to Allah—abundant, pure, and blessed praise, as our Lord loves and is pleased with.
Further on, he said:
Truth continues to triumph, rise, and grow, while falsehood declines, sinks, and dwindles away. Allah has brought the adversaries into submission and utterly humbled them. Their leaders have sought peace and shown a willingness to submit to an extent that would take long to describe. We, praise be to Allah, have stipulated conditions for this that uphold the honor of Islam and the Sunnah and suppress falsehood and innovation. They have agreed to all of them, but we have held back until they put them into practice. Thus we have not trusted their word
