As for those who do not believe in Allah, they go so far as to revile Him, saying that He is one of three and that He was crucified. They do not believe in His messengers; rather, they claim that the one who was carried in the womb and born, who ate, drank, relieved himself and slept, is Allah and the son of Allah, and that Allah or His son dwelt within him and clothed Himself in him. They deny what Muhammad, the last of the messengers, brought and distort the texts of the Torah and the Gospel. Indeed, the four Gospels contain the contradictions and disagreements they do concerning what Allah commanded and made obligatory. They do not follow the truth. The religion of truth means acknowledging what Allah has commanded and made obligatory: worshipping and obeying Him.

They do not regard as forbidden what Allah and His Messenger have forbidden: blood, carrion and pork. Pork has remained forbidden from the time of Adam to Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace; no prophet ever permitted it. Indeed, Christian scholars know that it is forbidden. Nothing prevents some of them from declaring this except hope of gain and fear, while others are prevented by obstinacy, habit and similar considerations.

They do not believe in the Last Day. Although most of them acknowledge bodily resurrection, they do not acknowledge what Allah has told us concerning eating, drinking, clothing, sexual relations, bliss and punishment in Paradise and Hell. Rather, the utmost bliss they acknowledge consists of hearing and smelling. Among them are devotees of philosophy who deny bodily resurrection. Most of their scholars are secret unbelievers: they conceal this and mock their common people—especially the women and monastics among them—for their feeble understanding.

Whoever is in this condition, Allah has commanded His Messenger to wage jihad against him until he enters Allah’s religion or pays the jizya. This is the religion of Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. Moreover, the Messiah did not command jihad, especially jihad against the community

فَمَنْ كَانَ لَا يُؤْمِنُ بِاَللَّهِ بَلْ يَسُبُّ اللَّهَ وَيَقُولُ: إنَّهُ ثَالِثُ ثَلَاثَةٍ وَأَنَّهُ صُلِبَ. وَلَا يُؤْمِنُ بِرُسُلِهِ؛ بَلْ يَزْعُمُ أَنَّ الَّذِي حَمَلَ وَوَلَدَ وَكَانَ يَأْكُلُ وَيَشْرَبُ وَيَتَغَوَّطُ وَيَنَامُ: هُوَ اللَّهُ وَابْنُ اللَّهِ. وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ أَوْ ابْنَهُ حَلَّ فِيهِ وَتَدَرَّعَهُ وَيَجْحَدُ مَا جَاءَ بِهِ مُحَمَّدٌ خَاتَمُ الْمُرْسَلِينَ وَيُحَرِّفُ نُصُوصَ التَّوْرَاةِ وَالْإِنْجِيلِ؛ فَإِنَّ فِي الْأَنَاجِيلِ الْأَرْبِعَةِ مِنْ التَّنَاقُضِ وَالِاخْتِلَافِ بَيْنَ مَا أَمَرَ اللَّهُ بِهِ وَأَوْجَبَهُ مَا فِيهَا وَلَا يَدِينُ الْحَقَّ. وَدِينُ الْحَقِّ هُوَ الْإِقْرَارُ بِمَا أَمَرَ اللَّهُ بِهِ وَأَوْجَبَهُ مِنْ عِبَادَتِهِ وَطَاعَتِهِ وَلَا يُحَرِّمُ مَا حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ؛ مِنْ الدَّمِ وَالْمَيْتَةِ وَلَحْمِ الْخِنْزِيرِ الَّذِي مَا زَالَ حَرَامًا مِنْ لَدُنْ آدَمَ إلَى مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا أَبَاحَهُ نَبِيٌّ قَطُّ؛ بَلْ عُلَمَاءُ النَّصَارَى يَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّهُ مُحَرَّمٌ وَمَا يَمْنَعُ بَعْضَهُمْ مِنْ إظْهَارِ ذَلِكَ إلَّا الرَّغْبَةُ وَالرَّهْبَةُ. وَبَعْضُهُمْ يَمْنَعُهُ الْعِنَادُ وَالْعَادَةُ وَنَحْوُ ذَلِكَ. وَلَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ؛ لِأَنَّ عَامَّتَهُمْ وَإِنْ كَانُوا يُقِرُّونَ بِقِيَامَةِ الْأَبْدَانِ؛ لَكِنَّهُمْ لَا يُقِرُّونَ بِمَا أَخْبَرَ اللَّهُ بِهِ مِنْ الْأَكْلِ وَالشُّرْبِ وَاللِّبَاسِ وَالنِّكَاحِ وَالنَّعِيمِ وَالْعَذَابِ فِي الْجَنَّةِ وَالنَّارِ؛ بَلْ غَايَةُ مَا يُقِرُّونَ بِهِ مِنْ النَّعِيمِ السَّمَاعُ وَالشَّمُّ. وَمِنْهُمْ مُتَفَلْسِفَةٌ يُنْكِرُونَ مَعَادَ الْأَجْسَادِ وَأَكْثَرُ عُلَمَائِهِمْ زَنَادِقَةٌ وَهُمْ يُضْمِرُونَ ذَلِكَ وَيَسْخَرُونَ بِعَوَامِّهِمْ؛ لَا سِيَّمَا بِالنِّسَاءِ والمترهبين مِنْهُمْ: بِضَعْفِ الْعُقُولِ. فَمَنْ هَذَا حَالُهُ فَقَدْ أَمَرَ اللَّهُ رَسُولَهُ بِجِهَادِهِ حَتَّى يَدْخُلَ فِي دِينِ اللَّهِ أَوْ يُؤَدِّيَ الْجِزْيَةَ وَهَذَا دِينُ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ. ثُمَّ الْمَسِيحُ لَمْ يَأْمُرْ بِجِهَادِ؛ لَا سِيَّمَا بِجِهَادِ الْأُمَّةِ
