He—may Allah have mercy on him—was asked:
About a man whose word is accepted by judges, who goes out to enjoy the blossoms during the seasons for recreation, when people gather. He sees wrongdoing but is unable to put a stop to it, and his wife also accompanies him. Is this permissible? Does it impugn his uprightness?
He replied:
A person may not attend places where he witnesses wrongdoing that he cannot oppose, unless there is a reason sanctioned by Islamic law—for example, something necessary for his religious or worldly welfare that requires his presence there, or his being compelled to attend.
As for attending merely for recreation and taking his wife along to witness such things, this impugns his uprightness and sense of propriety if he persists in doing so. Allah knows best.
