believe and are mindful of Allah.”

And He said:

“Do not take My enemies and your enemies as allies,”

up to His saying:

“You have a good example in Abraham and those with him,”

and on to the end of the surah, including His saying:

“Do not take as allies a people with whom Allah is angry. They have despaired of the Hereafter, just as the disbelievers have despaired of those in the graves.”

And He said:

“Allah is the ally of those who believe; He brings them out of darkness into light.”

And He said:

“That is because Allah is the Protector of those who believe, whereas the disbelievers have no protector.”

And He said:

“If you two support one another against him, then Allah is his Protector, as are Gabriel and the righteous among the believers.”

And He said:

“Indeed, Allah is an enemy to the disbelievers.”

And He said:

“O you who believe, do not take your fathers and your brothers as allies if they prefer disbelief to faith. Whoever among you takes them as allies—it is they who are the wrongdoers.”

“Say: If your fathers and your sons,”

up to His saying:

“And Allah does not guide the defiantly disobedient people.”

And He said:

“O you who believe, do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies. They are allies of one another. Whoever among you takes them as allies is indeed one of them. Indeed, Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.”

“So you see those in whose hearts is a disease hastening to their side, saying, ‘We fear that a turn of fortune may strike us.’ But perhaps Allah will bring victory or a decree from Him, and then they will regret what they concealed within themselves.”

“And those who believe will say, ‘Are these the ones who swore their most solemn oaths by Allah that they were indeed with you?’ Their deeds have come to nothing, and they have become losers.”

“O you who believe, whoever among you turns back from his religion,”
