has sent down to you the Book, fully explained?”
The Book judges between people in matters of religious law and faith, and whoever upholds it is supported through divine aid and decree. Allah Most High has said:
“Indeed, my Protector is Allah, who has sent down the Book, and He protects the righteous.”
And He Most High said:
“Then We placed you upon a clear path of religion, so follow it,”
continuing up to His words:
“And Allah is the Protector of those who fear Him.”
And He Most High said:
“We certainly sent Our messengers with clear proofs, and sent down with them the Scripture and the balance so that people might uphold justice,”
continuing up to His words:
“Indeed, Allah is Powerful, Almighty.”
The “balance” means justice and that by which justice is known. He sent down iron to support the Book. If the one who wields it fulfils that purpose, he is blessed, striving in Allah’s cause. For Allah has supported the Book through a command of His own and exacted retribution from those who departed from its judgment, as He Most High said:
“If you do not support him, Allah has already supported him when the disbelievers drove him out, one of two,”
continuing up to His words:
“And Allah is Almighty, All-Wise.”
And the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said to Abū Bakr:
“Indeed, Allah is with us.”
And He Most High said:
“Indeed, Allah is with those who fear Him and those who do good.”
And He Most High said:
“Indeed, Allah is with the patient.”
Whoever agrees with the Messenger, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, on a matter in which he opposes someone else is among those who follow him in that matter, and has a share in his words:
“Do not grieve; indeed, Allah is with us.”
For Allah’s being with them, with the support this entails, is tied to what the Messenger brought until the Day of Resurrection. The Quran indicates this, and we have witnessed and experienced instances of it whose description would be lengthy.
And He Most High said:
“We will show them Our signs on the horizons and within themselves until it becomes clear to them,”
continuing to the end of the surah.
And He Most High said:
“And the final outcome belongs to those who fear Allah.”
