nor sever ties with one another, nor hate one another, nor turn your backs on one another. Be brothers, O servants of Allah.” All these reports are found in the authentic collections.
The Sunan collections report that he, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
“Shall I tell you of something higher in rank than prayer, fasting, charity, enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong?”
They replied, “Yes, O Messenger of Allah.”
He said, “Mending relations between people, for discord is a razor. I do not say that it shaves off hair; rather, it shaves away religion.”
An authentic collection reports that he, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
“The gates of Paradise are opened every Monday and Thursday, and every servant who associates nothing with Allah is forgiven, except a man between whom and his brother there is enmity. It is then said, ‘Grant these two a reprieve until they reconcile.’”
He, peace and blessings be upon him, also said:
“It is not lawful for a Muslim to shun his brother for more than three days. They meet, and each turns away from the other. The better of the two is the one who offers the greeting of peace first.”
No teacher may wrong another or harm him unjustly through word or deed, for Allah Most High says:
“Those who harm believing men and women for something they have not done bear the guilt of slander and manifest sin.”
No one may punish another merely to satisfy his own desires, when that person has committed no injustice, transgressed no limit and neglected no right. This is among the injustices forbidden by Allah and His Messenger. For Allah Most High said, as narrated
