He—may Allah have mercy on him—was also asked about visiting the grave of al-Husayn and that of Lady Nafīsah, and praying at the tomb:

“If someone says that Lady Nafīsah frees prisoners, protects the fearful, and is the gateway for presenting one’s needs to Allah, is this permissible or not?”

He replied:

As for al-Husayn, his head was not brought to Egypt, by agreement of the scholars. Nor was it brought to Syria. Whoever says that a deceased person, whether Nafīsah or anyone else, protects the fearful, frees prisoners, and is the gateway for the fulfillment of needs is astray and a polytheist.

For Allah, glorified be He, is the One who grants protection, and no one can grant protection against Him. The gateway for presenting one’s needs to Allah is to call upon Him earnestly and with sincere devotion, as He, Most High, says:

“When My servants ask you concerning Me, I am indeed near. I answer the call of the supplicant when he calls upon Me.”
