those who say, ‘Allah is the Messiah, son of Mary,’ have disbelieved. But the Messiah said, ‘O Children of Israel, worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord. Whoever associates partners with Allah, Allah has forbidden Paradise to him, and his refuge is the Fire. The wrongdoers will have no helpers.’”

“Those who say, ‘Allah is the third of three,’ have certainly disbelieved. There is no god except one God. If they do not desist from what they say, a painful punishment will surely afflict those among them who disbelieve.”

“Will they not repent to Allah and seek His forgiveness? Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”

“The Messiah, son of Mary, was only a messenger; messengers had passed away before him. His mother was a woman of truth. They both ate food. See how We make the signs clear to them; then see how they are turned away!”

“Say, ‘Do you worship besides Allah that which has no power to harm or benefit you, while Allah is the All-Hearing, All-Knowing?’”

The Most High commanded the best of creation to say that he had no power to bring himself harm or benefit, nor to bring others harm or right guidance. The Most High said:

“Say, ‘I have no power to benefit or harm myself, except as Allah wills.’”

And He said:

“Say, ‘I have no power to bring you harm or right guidance.’”

“Say, ‘No one can protect me from Allah, nor will I find any refuge besides Him.’”

“Except for conveying from Allah and His messages.”

He is saying: No one can protect me from Allah if I disobey Him, as the Most High said:

“Say, ‘I fear, if I disobey my Lord, the punishment of a tremendous Day.’”

“Nor will I find any refuge besides Him”—that is, any shelter to which I can turn.

“Except for conveying from Allah and His messages”—that is, no one can protect me from Him; only obedience to Him can do so, by conveying to you what I have been sent with. Through that, protection and safety are attained.
