“And it is not permissible to use mosques for singing, dancing, or mingling with beardless youths. Anyone who does so must receive a severe, deterrent discretionary punishment. As for wearing hoops, armlets, chains, and shackles, and wearing rings of iron or copper, this is religious innovation and ostentatious display. The worst matters are those newly introduced into religion. These are theirs in this world; they are the attire of the people of the Fire, and they will be theirs in the Hereafter if they die persisting in this. It is not permissible to prostrate to anyone other than Allah, whether living or dead, or to kiss graves. Anyone who does so must receive discretionary punishment. Anyone who curses a Muslim must receive severe discretionary punishment for doing so.
“A believer is not given to cursing—and what he acknowledged concerning the curse returning upon him.”
He said:
“It is not lawful to pray at graves or to walk over them, whether for men or women. Nor may they be made into places of prayer, for:
‘Allah’s wrath became intense against people who took the graves of their prophets as places of worship.’”
He said:
“As for scholars cursing the leading figures of the Ash‘ariyya, anyone who curses them must receive discretionary punishment, and the curse returns upon him. Whoever curses someone who does not deserve to be cursed brings the curse upon himself. The scholars defend the branches of religion, while the Ash‘ariyya defend its foundations.”
He said:
“As for their entering fires, this is a trial for anyone who does not hold fast to the Quran, and a cause of misguidance for those who see them, just as people are put to trial by what appears at the hands of the Dajjāl. Anyone through whom an extraordinary occurrence takes place must be weighed against the standard of revealed law. If he is upright, what occurs through him is a divinely granted wonder; if he is not upright, it is a trial, like the raising of the dead that occurs at the hands of the Dajjāl, and the appearance of his paradise and his fire. For Allah leads astray those who have no share of goodness through what appears at the hands of such people.
