The purpose here is to draw attention to such claims of consensus, which some people cite and use to support conclusions contrary to the religion of the Muslims: the Book, the Sunnah, and consensus.

The second reason is that, even if it were established that the deceased was created from that earth, it is well known that a person’s creation from his parents’ reproductive fluid is more immediate than his creation from earth. Yet Allah brings forth the living from the dead and the dead from the living: He brings forth a believer from a disbeliever and a disbeliever from a believer. Thus, He creates from a disbelieving person a believer, whether a prophet or otherwise, just as He created Abraham, His intimate friend, from Āzar. Abraham, the best of created beings, is the greatest of the prophets after Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, whereas Āzar is among the people of the Fire. As reported in the Sahīh, the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:

“Abraham will meet his father Āzar on the Day of Resurrection. Abraham will say, ‘Did I not tell you not to disobey me?’ His father will reply, ‘Today I will not disobey you.’ Abraham will then say, ‘My Lord, did You not promise me that You would not disgrace me? What greater disgrace could there be than my wretched father?’ He will be told, ‘Turn around.’ He will turn and see a huge dhīkh—a male hyena. Āzar will be transformed into that form, seized by his legs, and cast into the Fire, so that he will not be recognized as Abraham’s father.”

Likewise, our Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was created from his parents, yet he was forbidden to ask forgiveness for his mother. It is also reported in the Sahīh:

“A man asked him, ‘Where is my father?’ He replied, ‘Your father is in the Fire.’ When the man turned away, he called him back and said, ‘My father and your father are in the Fire.’”

And He brought forth from Noah, who was
