Allah; for they worship Him in a manner for which He has sent down no authority and which neither the Book nor the Sunnah has prescribed. As Allah’s close friend, peace be upon him, said when debating the polytheists, after they disputed with him and sought to frighten him with their gods:
“How should I fear what you associate with Allah, while you do not fear that you have associated with Allah that for which He has sent down no authority to you? Which of the two parties has more right to security, if you know?”
He, Exalted is He, said:
“Those who believe and do not mix their faith with injustice—it is they who will have security, and they are rightly guided.”

He, Exalted is He, said:
“That was Our argument which We gave Abraham against his people. We raise in degrees whom We will.”
Zayd ibn Aslam and others said: “Through knowledge.”
He, Exalted is He, said:
“The mosques belong to Allah, so do not invoke anyone alongside Allah.”
He did not say, “The shrines belong to Allah.” Rather, those devoted to shrines invoke others alongside Allah. Thus, since building mosques over graves—known as “shrines”—and venerating them are not part of the religion of the Muslims, but rather of the religion of the polytheists, this has not been preserved. Allah has guaranteed us that He will preserve the Reminder He sent down, as He said:
“Indeed, it is We who sent down the Reminder, and indeed, We will preserve it.”
Thus, what Allah sent His Messenger with of the Book
