in religion what Allah had not authorized, declaring forbidden things that Allah had not forbidden, such as livestock designated as bahīrah, sā’ibah, wasīlah, and hām. They also instituted religious practices that Allah had not authorized, such as calling upon and worshipping others besides Him, and the monasticism that the Christians invented.

Islam is the religion of all the messengers, from the first to the last; all of them were sent with Islam. As Noah, peace be upon him, said:

“My people, if my presence among you and my reminding you of Allah’s signs have become too much for you, then in Allah I have put my trust. So settle on your plan together with your gods, leaving no uncertainty about it; then carry it out against me and give me no respite.”

“But if you turn away, I have asked you for no reward. My reward is with Allah alone, and I have been commanded to be among the Muslims.”

The Most High says:

“Who would turn away from the faith of Abraham except one who makes a fool of himself? We certainly chose him in this world, and in the Hereafter he will surely be among the righteous.”

“When his Lord said to him, ‘Submit,’ he replied, ‘I have submitted to the Lord of all worlds.’”

“Abraham enjoined this upon his sons, as did Jacob: ‘My sons, Allah has chosen this religion for you, so do not die except as Muslims.’”

The Most High says:

“Moses said, ‘My people, if you believe in Allah, then put your trust in Him, if you are Muslims.’”

The Most High says:

“And when I inspired the disciples to believe in Me and My messenger, they said, ‘We believe, so bear witness that we are Muslims.’”

It is established in the two Sahīh collections that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:

“We prophets all have one religion.”

Thus, the religion of all the messengers is one and the same: Islam, which is to worship Allah alone, with no partner, in accordance with what He has commanded and prescribed
