Ibn ʿUmar to say:
“Peace be upon you, O Messenger of Allah! Peace be upon you, O Abū Bakr! Peace be upon you, my father!”
In Sunan Abī Dāwūd, it is reported that the Prophet said:
“Send abundant blessings upon me on Friday and the night preceding it, for your blessings are presented to me.” They asked, “How will our blessings be presented to you when you have decomposed?” He replied, “Allah has forbidden the earth to consume the flesh of the prophets.”
He—may Allah have mercy on him—was also asked:
“Is Mecca superior to Medina, or is it the other way round?”
He replied:
Praise be to Allah. Mecca is superior, because it is authentically reported from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAdī ibn al-Hamrāʾ that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, addressed Mecca while standing at al-Hazwarah, saying:
“By Allah, you are indeed the best of Allah’s lands and the most beloved of Allah’s lands to Him. Had my people not driven me out of you, I would not have left.”
Al-Tirmidhī said, “This is an authentic hadith.”
Another version reads:
“You are indeed the best of Allah’s lands and the most beloved of Allah’s lands to Him.”
Thus, it is established that Mecca is the best of Allah’s lands and the most beloved of Allah’s lands to Allah and His Messenger. This explicitly establishes its superiority.
As for the report that is narrated:
“You have brought me out of the place most beloved to me, so settle me in the place most beloved to You,”
this is a fabricated, false hadith that none of the scholars has narrated. And Allah knows best.
