As for the saying:

“Whoever visits my grave, my intercession becomes due to him,”

and similar hadiths narrated concerning visiting the grave of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, none is authentic. None of the compilers of the authoritative collections transmitted any of them: neither the compilers of the Sahīh collections, such as al-Bukhārī and Muslim; nor the compilers of the Sunan collections, such as Abū Dāwūd and al-Nasā’ī; nor the leading compilers of Musnad collections, such as Imam Ahmad and others like him. Nor did any of the leading jurists rely on them, such as Mālik, al-Shāfi‘ī, Ahmad, Ishāq ibn Rāhawayh, Abū Hanīfah, al-Thawrī, al-Awzā‘ī, al-Layth ibn Sa‘d, and others like them.

Rather, most of these hadiths are known to be lies and fabrications, such as the saying:

“Whoever visits me and visits my father in the same year, I guarantee him Paradise from Allah,”

and the saying:

“Whoever performs Hajj but does not visit me has slighted me.”

These hadiths and others like them are lies. The first hadith was narrated by al-Dāraqutnī and by al-Bazzār in his Musnad, and its transmission hinges on
