Majmu' al-FatawaIbn Taimiya

Hāmid in al-Ihyāʾ, Abū al-Hasan ibn ʿAbdūs, and Abū Muhammad al-Maqdisī. The latter related a hadith also narrated by al-Tabarānī from Ibn ʿUmar, who reported that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:

“Whoever comes to visit me, with nothing prompting him except visiting me, it is incumbent upon me to intercede for him on the Day of Resurrection.”

However, this report is transmitted through ʿAbd Allāh ibn ibn ʿUmar al-ʿUmarī, who has been judged weak. For this reason, none of the early generations or the leading imams relied upon this hadith as evidence. By the consensus of Muslim scholars, a report of this kind cannot establish a ruling in Islamic law. And Allah knows best.
