And Allah, glorified be He, has made it obligatory for believers to show loyalty to one another, and has required them to bear enmity towards the disbelievers. He Most High says:
“O you who believe, do not take the Jews and Christians as allies. They are allies of one another. Whoever among you takes them as allies is indeed one of them. Indeed, Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.”
“So you see those in whose hearts is disease hastening to ally themselves with them, saying, ‘We fear that a reversal of fortune may strike us.’ But perhaps Allah will bring victory or some decree from Himself, and they will then regret what they concealed within themselves.”
“And those who believe will say, ‘Are these the ones who swore their strongest oaths by Allah that they were indeed with you?’ Their deeds have become worthless, and they have become losers.”
“O you who believe, whoever among you turns back from his religion—Allah will bring forth a people whom He loves and who love Him, humble towards the believers, firm towards the disbelievers, striving in Allah’s cause and fearing no blame from anyone. That is Allah’s bounty, which He grants to whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing, all-Knowing.”
“Your ally is none other than Allah, His Messenger, and those who believe—those who establish prayer and give zakah, and who bow in worship.”
“And whoever takes Allah, His Messenger, and those who believe as allies—indeed, the party of Allah will be victorious.”
He, glorified be He, has thus declared that the believer’s allies are Allah, His Messenger, and His believing servants. This applies to every believer possessing this quality, whether or not he belongs to a particular affiliation, town, school, or spiritual path. Allah Most High says:
“The believing men and believing women are allies of one another.”
And He Most High says:
“Indeed, those who believed, emigrated, and strove with their wealth and their lives in Allah’s cause, and those who gave shelter and support—they are allies of one another.”
