Majmu' al-FatawaIbn Taimiya

Moreover, when he told her that, she said to him, “I feel troubled that I did not circumambulate the House when I performed Hajj.” He said, “Take her, O ‘Abd al-Rahmān, and have her perform Umrah from al-Tan‘īm.” Likewise, she said to him, “Are my companions to return with Hajj and Umrah, while I return with Hajj alone?” So he instructed ‘Abd al-Rahmān, who took her to al-Tan‘īm.

This shows that he did not instruct her to perform Umrah on his own initiative; rather, he granted her request when she was reluctant to return without performing an Umrah. Her companions had undertaken Umrah before Hajj, with a release from ihram between the two: they had first circumambulated the House and passed between al-Safā and al-Marwah, whereas she did not perform either until after standing at ‘Arafāt. Thus, they had performed more rites than she had, because the initial circumambulation had been waived for her on account of menstruation.
