It is also recommended to go to Qubā Mosque and pray there, for the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:

“Whoever purifies himself at home, doing so thoroughly, then comes to Qubā Mosque intending only to pray there, will have a reward like that of an ‘umrah.”

Narrated by Ahmad, al-Nasā’ī and Ibn Mājah. The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, also said:

“Prayer in Qubā Mosque is like an ‘umrah.”

Al-Tirmidhī graded it good.

Travelling to al-Aqsā Mosque, praying there, supplicating, remembering Allah, reciting the Quran and observing a devotional retreat are recommended at any time one wishes, whether in the year one performs Hajj or afterwards. Nothing should be done there or in the Mosque of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, except what is done in other mosques. There is nothing in them against which one should rub oneself, or which one should kiss or circumambulate. All these practices are exclusive to the Sacred Mosque. Visiting the Rock is not recommended; rather, what is recommended is to pray in the southern part of al-Aqsā Mosque, which ‘Umar ibn al-Khattāb built for the Muslims.

No one should travel to perform the ritual standing anywhere other than ‘Arafāt, nor travel to perform it at al-Aqsā Mosque or at anyone’s grave, whether that of a prophet, a shaykh or anyone else. This is agreed upon by the Muslims. Indeed, the stronger of the two scholarly views is that no one should travel to visit any grave. Rather, graves are to be visited in the prescribed manner by those who are nearby and those passing
