It is recommended to drink Zamzam water to one’s fill and, while drinking, to offer whatever supplications one wishes that accord with Islamic teachings. Bathing with it, however, is not recommended.

As for visiting mosques built in Mecca other than the Sacred Mosque—such as the mosque below al-Safā, those on the slopes of Abū Qubays, and similar mosques built at sites associated with the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and his Companions, including the Mosque of the Birthplace and others—deliberately seeking out any of these is not part of the Sunnah, nor did any of the imams recommend it. What is prescribed is to visit the Sacred Mosque specifically, along with the sacred sites: ‘Arafah, Muzdalifah, al-Safā, and al-Marwah.

Likewise, seeking out mountains and places around Mecca other than the sacred sites of ‘Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Minā—such as Mount Hirā’, the mountain near Minā where the Dome of Ransom is said to have stood, and similar places—is not part of the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. Rather, visiting them is a religious innovation. The same applies to mosques built along the roads at historical sites, and to places said to have such associations: the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, did not prescribe visiting any of these places in particular, nor visiting any of them at all.
