Nor did the majority of the imams recommend them—neither Mālik, Abū Hanīfah nor Ahmad—even though some later followers of Ahmad mentioned them. Rather, such bathing is an innovation, unless there is a reason that makes it recommended, such as having an odor that offends others and bathing to remove it.

All of ‘Arafah is a place for the standing, but one must not stand in the bed of the ‘Uranah valley. As for climbing the mountain there, this is not part of the Sunnah. It is called the Mount of Mercy and is also known as Ilāl, which rhymes with hilāl. Likewise, it is not recommended to enter or pray inside the dome on its summit, known as the Dome of Adam. Circumambulating it is a major sin. Similarly, it is not recommended to enter or pray in any of the mosques near the stoning pillars. As for circumambulating these, the Rock, the chamber of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, or anything other than the Ancient House, this is among the gravest forbidden innovations.
