He, may Allah have mercy on him, was asked:
“A woman possesses more than approximately one thousand dirhams and intends to give her clothes to her daughter. Is it better for her to keep her clothing for her daughter or to use it to perform Hajj?”
He replied:
“Praise be to Allah. Yes, she should perform Hajj with this money—one thousand dirhams or thereabouts—and use the remainder to arrange her daughter’s marriage, if she wishes. Hajj is an obligation incumbent upon her if she has the means to undertake it, and a woman who possesses this amount has the means.”
He was also asked:
“An elderly man’s limbs have grown feeble; he cannot eat or drink, nor can he move. May he hire someone to perform the obligatory Hajj on his behalf?”
He replied:
“As for Hajj, if he cannot ride a mount, he should appoint someone to perform Hajj on his behalf.”
