Likewise, there is a report stating:
“Allah walks upon the earth, and whenever there is a patch of greenery, they say: ‘This is where His feet were.’”
They recite His words, Most High:
“So observe the effects of Allah’s mercy—how He gives life to the earth after its death.”
This too is a lie, by the unanimous agreement of the scholars. Allah did not say, “Observe the traces of Allah’s footsteps.” Rather, He said, “the effects of Allah’s mercy”; His mercy here means the vegetation.
Likewise, some reports state that Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, “saw his Lord while circumambulating the Kaaba”; others state that “he saw Him while leaving Mecca”; and others that “he saw Him in one of the lanes of Medina,” along with other such accounts. Every report stating that “Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, saw his Lord with his own eyes on earth” is a lie, by the unanimous agreement of Muslims and their scholars. No Muslim scholar has ever said or narrated such a thing.
The disagreement among the Companions concerned only whether Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, saw his Lord on the night of the Ascension. Ibn ‘Abbās, may Allah be pleased with them both, and most scholars of the Sunnah held that Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, saw his Lord on the night of the Ascension. ‘Ā’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, and a group who shared her view denied this. ‘Ā’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, neither narrated anything from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, on this matter nor asked him about it.
Nor has anything concerning this been transmitted from al-Siddīq, may Allah be pleased with him, contrary to what some ignorant people relate:
“Her father asked the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and he answered, ‘Yes,’ whereas he told ‘Ā’ishah, ‘No.’”
This report is a lie, by the unanimous agreement of the scholars. For this reason, Judge Abū Ya‘lā and others mentioned that differing reports have been transmitted from Imam
