of those slain are those whom they kill.” In another narration:

“If those who fight them knew what reward has been reserved for them, as conveyed by Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, they would give up further deeds.”

When these people rebelled during the caliphate of the Commander of the Believers, ‘Alī ibn Abī Tālib—may Allah be pleased with him—he and the Companions of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, fought them in accordance with the Prophet’s command and his exhortation to fight them. All the leading scholars of Islam agreed that they should be fought. The same applies to all those who separate from the Muslim community and depart from the Sunnah and Law of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, following misleading desires and contrary innovations.

For this reason, the Muslims also fought the “Rāfidah,” who are worse than these people. They declare the vast majority of Muslims to be disbelievers, including the first three caliphs and others. They claim that they alone are believers and that everyone else is a disbeliever. They declare anyone who says that Allah will be seen in the Hereafter, or who believes in Allah’s attributes, His perfect power, and His all-encompassing will, to be a disbeliever. They likewise declare anyone who disagrees with the innovations they follow to be a disbeliever.

They wipe their feet but do not wipe over leather socks; they delay breaking the fast and performing the prayer until a star appears; they combine two prayers without an excuse; they recite qunūt supplications in all five prayers; and they prohibit fuqqā‘, animals slaughtered by the People of the Book, and animals slaughtered by Muslims who disagree with them, because they regard those Muslims as disbelievers.
