And for this reason, the Most High says:

“Fight those who do not believe in Allah or in the Last Day, who do not consider unlawful what Allah and His Messenger have made unlawful, and who do not follow the religion of truth, among those who were given the Scripture, until they pay the jizyah willingly while they are humbled.”

As for the believers, they are as Allah describes them in His words:

“My mercy encompasses all things. So I will decree it for those who fear Me and give zakah, and those who believe in Our signs.”

“Those who follow the Messenger, the unlettered Prophet, whom they find written about in the Torah and the Gospel that are with them. He enjoins upon them what is right and forbids them what is wrong, makes lawful for them good things and forbids them foul things, and relieves them of their burden and the shackles that were upon them. So those who believe in him, honour him, support him, and follow the light sent down with him—it is they who are successful.”

This is a subject that would require a lengthy discussion. Likewise, the people of the Sunnah and the community occupy a middle position among the sects. In “matters concerning Allah’s names, signs, and attributes,” they stand between “those who deny His attributes,” who deviate concerning Allah’s names and signs and deny the reality of the attributes with which Allah has described Himself, to the point of likening Him to nonexistence and lifeless things; and “those who liken Him to creation,” who draw comparisons for Him and liken Him to created beings.

The people of the Sunnah and the community therefore believe in the attributes with which Allah has described Himself and with which His Messenger, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, has described Him, without distortion or denial, and without describing how those attributes are or likening them to those of created beings.
