crop sharecropping is invalid say that the entire crop belongs to the landowner if he supplied the seed, or to the cultivator if he supplied it. Whichever party is held to own the crop is liable for its tithe. As for those who hold that the landowner is entitled to an undivided share of the crop, he must pay the tithe on his share, by agreement of the imams. No Muslim scholar has said that the landowner shares the crop with the cultivator while the cultivator alone bears the entire tithe. Whoever says this has contradicted the consensus of the Muslims.

He—may Allah have mercy on him—was asked:

“Regarding men wearing silver in the form of clasps, a ring, a belt, sword ornaments, and other silver adornments: is this forbidden, and is it impermissible to pray while wearing them?”

He replied:

Praise be to Allah. A silver ring is permissible by agreement of the imams, for it is authentically established that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, wore a silver ring and that his Companions wore rings. A gold ring, by contrast, is forbidden by agreement of the four imams, for it is authentically established that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, forbade it.
