one of the People of the Book and was granted a good end, dying as a Muslim in Allah’s knowledge while outwardly appearing to die a disbeliever—such people are transferred. Has any report been transmitted concerning this? Is there any evidence for it?
He answered:
Praise be to Allah. As for bodies, they are not transferred from their graves. However, we know that some who outwardly profess Islam are hypocrites—whether Jews, Christians, or apostates and deniers. Whoever is like this will be with his counterparts on the Day of Resurrection, as Allah Most High says:
“Gather those who committed wrong, their kind, and what they used to worship.”
That is, those who resemble them and their counterparts.
Among those who outwardly died as disbelievers, there may be someone who believed in Allah before the death rattle began, with no believer present, and whose family concealed this for reasons of inheritance or otherwise. Such a person will be with the believers, even though buried among the disbelievers.
As for the angels transferring them, I have heard no report to that effect.
