Once it is understood that praising Allah accompanies glorifying Him, and that declaring His oneness accompanies proclaiming His greatness, the proclamations of Allah’s greatness at the two Eids bring together these paired forms of remembrance: proclaiming His greatness is combined with declaring His oneness, and with praising Him. For He says:

“And that you may proclaim Allah’s greatness for having guided you, and that you may be grateful.”

His guidance calls for proclaiming His greatness in gratitude for it, so its companion—declaring His oneness—is joined to it. His blessing calls for gratitude, so praising Him is also joined to it.

Similarly, mounting an animal combines taking an elevated position with receiving a blessing. The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, would therefore combine both forms of remembrance when mounting. For Allah, glorified be He, says:

“So that you may settle upon their backs, then remember your Lord’s blessing when you have settled upon them, and say, ‘Glory be to Him who has subjected this to us, for we could not have brought it under our control. And surely to our Lord we shall return.’”

He thus commanded that His blessing be remembered by praising Him for it, and commanded glorification, which accompanies praise.

“When a mount was brought to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, he placed his foot in the stirrup and said, ‘In the name of Allah.’ When he had settled on its back, he said, ‘Praise be to Allah.’ Then he said, ‘Glory be to Him who has subjected this to us, for we could not have brought it under our control. And surely to our Lord we shall return.’ Then he praised Allah three times and proclaimed His greatness three times, then said, ‘There is no god but You
