he recites the qunūt supplication, the follower should recite it with him; if he does not, neither should the follower. If he prays three rakʿahs continuously, the follower should do likewise; if he separates them, the follower should also separate them. Some prefer that the follower pray them continuously when his imam separates them, but the first view is more correct. Allah knows best.
He was asked:
If someone joins the imam for part of the prayer, then stands to complete what he missed, may others follow him in prayer?
He answered:
If someone joins the imam for part of the prayer, then stands to complete what he missed and others follow him, this is permissible according to the more correct of the two scholarly views.
He was asked:
About an imam who leads the people in the obligatory prayer, then leads another prayer afterward, saying, “This is for a prayer you missed.” Is this permissible?
He answered:
Praise be to Allah. The regular imam may not make a habit of leading the people in the obligatory prayer twice, for this is an innovation contrary to the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace
