Majmu' al-FatawaIbn Taimiya

‘But I fast and break my fast, stand in prayer and sleep, marry women and eat meat. Whoever turns away from my sunnah is not of me.’”

Indeed, it has been said that part of the wisdom behind prohibiting unrestricted voluntary prayer at certain times is to give people a respite during those periods, so that they return to prayer with renewed energy. They are drawn to what they have been prevented from doing and become eager to pray after resting. And Allah knows best.
