Section: Prostration in the Quran
Quranic passages concerning prostration are of two kinds: accounts of those who prostrate, praising them; or commands to prostrate, censuring those who fail to do so.
The first kind includes the prostration passage in al-Aʿrāf:
“Indeed, those who are with your Lord are not too proud to worship Him; they glorify Him and prostrate to Him.”
He mentions this after commanding people to listen to the Quran and remember Him. In al-Raʿd:
“To Allah prostrates whoever is in the heavens and on earth, willingly or unwillingly, as do their shadows, morning and evening.”
And in al-Nahl:
“Have they not considered all that Allah has created, whose shadows turn to the right and the left, prostrating to Allah in humble submission?”
“To Allah prostrate all living creatures in the heavens and on earth, as do the angels, who are not too proud.”
