it is narrated from Abū Hurayra that the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—said:
“Do not single out Friday night for prayer, nor Friday for fasting.”
The hadiths cited concerning fasting on Friday and on the nights of the two Eids are lies attributed to the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him. And Allah knows best.
He was asked:
“Is the Raghā’ib prayer recommended or not?”
He replied:
Neither the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—nor any of his Companions, the Successors, or the leading scholars of the Muslims performed this prayer. Neither the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—nor any of the early generations or the leading scholars encouraged it, nor did they mention any virtue peculiar to this night. The hadith narrated from the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—concerning it is a fabricated lie, by agreement of those versed in this matter.
For this reason, the scholars who have carefully examined the matter have stated that this prayer is discouraged, not recommended. And Allah knows best.
