The sixth argument:
Allah Most High says:
“On the Day when the Shin is uncovered and they are called to prostrate, but cannot do so.”
“Their eyes will be downcast, humiliation overwhelming them, although they used to be called to prostrate while they were sound.”
It is established in authentic hadiths: “When He manifests Himself to them on the Day of Resurrection, the believers will prostrate before Him, while anyone who used to prostrate in this world for show will have his back become like a solid slab.” Thus, they are commanded to prostrate on the plains of the Resurrection, rather than perform any other part of the prayer. This shows that prostration is superior to the other parts.
The seventh argument:
It is established in authentic hadiths that when people ask the Messenger to intercede on the Day of Resurrection, he says:
“I will go, and when I see my Lord, I will fall down in prostration before Him and praise my Lord with words of praise that He will inspire me with, which I cannot now express.”
Thus, when he sees Him, he prostrates and praises Him. Then he is told:
“O Muhammad, raise your head. Speak, and you will be heard; ask, and you will be granted what you ask; intercede, and your intercession will be accepted.”
This shows that prostration is superior to the other parts.
The eighth argument:
Allah Most High says:
“No! Do not obey him, but prostrate and draw near.”
It is established in an authentic hadith that the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said:
“The nearest a servant comes to his Lord is when he is prostrating.”
This explicitly states that a person is nearer to Allah while prostrating than in any other posture, clearly demonstrating the superiority of prostration over the other postures.
Muslim narrated this hadith in his Sahīh on the authority of Abū Hurayrah:
