Shaykh al-Islām Taqī al-Dīn Ahmad ibn Taymiyyah—may Allah have mercy on him—said:
In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.
Allah, exalted and holy, said:
“O you who believe, fear Allah as He should be feared, and do not die except as Muslims.”
“And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together, and do not become divided. Remember Allah’s favor upon you: you were enemies, then He brought your hearts together, and by His favor you became brothers. You were on the brink of a pit of Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus Allah makes His signs clear to you, so that you may be guided.”
“Let there be among you a group who call to goodness, enjoin what is right, and forbid what is wrong. It is they who will prosper.”
“And do not be like those who became divided and differed after clear proofs had come to them. For them there will be a tremendous punishment.”
“On the Day when some faces will turn white and some faces will turn black.”
Ibn ‘Abbās and others said: The faces of the people of the Sunnah and the community will turn white, while the faces of the people of innovation and division will turn black.
“As for those whose faces turn black: ‘Did you disbelieve after having believed? Then taste the punishment for your disbelief.’”
“But as for those whose faces turn white, they will be within Allah’s mercy, remaining there forever.”
