And as He says:

“Whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger, fears Allah and is mindful of Him—it is they who will succeed.”

Obedience is due to Allah and His Messenger, whereas reverent fear and mindfulness are for Allah alone. Likewise, the messengers say:

“Worship Allah, be mindful of Him, and obey me.”

They thus direct worship and mindfulness to Allah alone, while requiring obedience to themselves. Allah Most High says:

“The mosques belong to Allah, so do not invoke anyone alongside Allah.”

“When the servant of Allah stood up to invoke Him, they almost crowded upon him.”

“Say: ‘I invoke only my Lord, and associate no one with Him.’”

“Say: ‘I have no power to harm you or guide you rightly.’”

“Say: ‘No one can protect me from Allah, nor will I find any refuge besides Him.’”

Allah Most High also says:

“Do not invoke another god alongside Allah, lest you be among those who are punished.”

Allah Most High says:

“Say: ‘Invoke those whom you claim to be gods besides Allah. They possess not an atom’s weight in the heavens or on earth, nor do they have any share in either, nor does He have any helper among them.’”

“Intercession does not avail with Him except for one whom He permits.”

Allah Most High says:

“Who can intercede with Him except by His permission?”

Allah Most High says:

“Say: ‘Invoke those whom you claim to be gods besides Him. They have no power to remove your affliction or shift it elsewhere.’”

“Those whom they invoke themselves seek a means of drawing near to their Lord, striving to be nearest to Him. They hope for His mercy and fear His punishment. Indeed, your Lord’s punishment is something to beware of.”

“They have taken their rabbis and monks as lords besides Allah, and also the Messiah, son of Mary, although they were commanded only to worship one God. There is no deity worthy of worship except Him. Glory be to Him, far above whatever they associate with Him.”
