He was asked about the saying of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace:

“Whoever invokes blessings upon me once, Allah will bestow blessings upon him ten times. Whoever invokes blessings upon me ten times, Allah will bestow blessings upon him a hundred times. Whoever invokes blessings upon me a hundred times, Allah will bestow blessings upon him a thousand times. Whoever does not invoke blessings upon me will have regrets remaining in his heart, even if he enters Paradise.”

When a servant invokes blessings upon the Messenger, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, does Allah bestow blessings upon that servant or not?

He answered:

All praise is due to Allah, Lord of all worlds. It is authentically reported in the Sahih from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, that he said:

“Whoever invokes blessings upon me once, Allah will bestow blessings upon him ten times.”

It is also reported from him in the Sunan collections that he said:

“No people gather in a sitting without remembering Allah or invoking blessings upon me therein, except that it will be a cause of sorrow for them on the Day of Resurrection.”

This sorrow means distress and regret. And Allah knows best.

He was asked:

Is it permissible to invoke blessings upon someone other than the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, by saying, “O Allah, bestow blessings upon so-and-so”?
