your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection.” Allah Most High says:

“So fear Allah and set things right between yourselves.”

He also says:

“The believers are but brothers, so make peace between your two brothers.”

And He says:

“Except for those who enjoin charity, kindness, or reconciliation between people.”

This great principle—holding firmly, all together, to the rope of Allah and not becoming divided—is among the greatest foundations of Islam. Allah Most High has emphatically enjoined it in His Book and severely condemned those among the People of the Scripture and others who abandon it. The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, likewise emphatically enjoined it on both public and private occasions, as when he said:

“Adhere to the community, for Allah’s Hand is over the community.”

He also said:

“Satan is with the lone individual, and he is farther away from two.”

And he said:

“Whoever sees something in his ruler that he dislikes should bear it patiently, for whoever departs from the community by even a handspan has cast off the bond of Islam from his neck.”

And he said:

“Shall I not tell you of something higher in rank than prayer, fasting, charity, enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong?” They said, “Yes, O Messenger of Allah.” He said, “Setting relations right, for discord is the shaver. I do not mean that it shaves off hair, but that it shaves away religion.”

And he said:

“Whoever comes to you while your affairs are united under one man from among you, seeking to divide your community, strike his neck with the sword, whoever he may be.”

And he said:

“They lead you in prayer
