He was asked:
Is intercourse with a menstruating woman permissible or not?
He replied:
Intercourse with a menstruating woman is forbidden by agreement of the imams, as Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) have prohibited it. If a man has intercourse with her while she is menstruating, there is a well-known disagreement over whether he must offer expiation. Scholars also disagree over her performing a ritual bath for the impurity resulting from intercourse separately from the bath for menstruation. Intercourse with a woman experiencing postnatal bleeding is likewise forbidden by agreement of the imams.
He may, however, take sexual pleasure with a menstruating woman or one experiencing postnatal bleeding in the area above the waist-wrapper, whether using his mouth, hand, or foot. Thus, if he rubs himself against her abdomen and ejaculates, that is permissible. Scholars disagree, however, over whether taking sexual pleasure between her thighs is permissible. He was asked:
If a woman’s menstruation ends and she cannot find water with which to bathe, may her husband have intercourse with her before she bathes, without any condition?
He replied:
When a woman’s menstrual bleeding ceases, her husband must not have intercourse with her until
