And ʿAbd Allāh ibn Taymiyyah wrote to his brother Zayn al-Dīn:

In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy.

From his brother, “ʿAbd Allāh ibn Taymiyyah,” to the shaykh, imam, learned and virtuous scholar, and eminent dignitary, “Zayn al-Dīn.” May Allah Most High adorn him with the virtues of His friends, honor him in this world and the Hereafter with the honor He bestows upon His chosen servants, grant him glad tidings of the greatest victory over his enemies, and inspire him to give thanks for His blessings—especially the greatest of them: the mighty victory that Allah, glorified is He, has graciously granted to Islam, the Sunnah, and its followers over the party of Satan and his allies.

To proceed:

In writing to you, I praise Allah, besides whom there is no deity, and who is worthy of all praise. I invoke blessings upon His Prophet Muhammad—may the finest blessings and peace be upon him. I also inform you of the greatest victory and manifest triumph that Allah, glorified is He, has graciously bestowed upon us and upon all Muslims. Although minds cannot grasp the full measure of its excellence, nor tongues describe it fully, we shall briefly recount whatever Allah, glorified is He, enables us to convey, without undue length.
