And Abdullah ibn Taymiyyah wrote to his brother Zain al-Din:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, from his brother
"Abdullah ibn Taymiyyah"
to the Sheikh, the Imam, the learned, the virtuous, the great leader
"Zain al-Din"
May Allah adorn him with the adornment of His friends and honor him in this world and the Hereafter with the honor of His chosen ones, and grant him the glad tidings of the greatest victory over his enemies and inspire him to thankfulness for the blessings;
especially the best of His blessings:
for what Allah, Glorified be He, has granted of the mighty victory for Islam and the Sunnah and its followers over the party of Satan and his allies.
As for what follows:
I praise to you Allah, there is no deity but Him, and He is worthy of all praise, and I send prayers upon His Prophet Muhammad, the best of prayers and peace be upon him. And I inform him of what Allah, Glorified be He, has granted us and all the Muslims of the greatest victory and clear conquest. And although minds are incapable of fully comprehending it in detail and tongues are unable to describe it completely. But we mention from it what Allah, Glorified be He, has made easy, summarized and free from prolongation.
وَكَتَبَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ابْنُ تَيْمِيَّة لِأَخِيهِ زَيْنِ الدِّينِ:
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ مِنْ أَخِيهِ
" عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ابْنِ تَيْمِيَّة "
إلَى الشَّيْخِ الْإِمَامِ الْعَالِمِ الْفَاضِلِ الصَّدْرِ الْكَبِيرِ
" زَيْنِ الدِّينِ "
زَيَّنَهُ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى بِحِلْيَةِ أَوْلِيَائِهِ وَأَكْرَمَهُ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ بِكَرَامَةِ أَصْفِيَائِهِ وَجَعَلَ لَهُ الْبُشْرَى بِالنَّصْرِ الْأَكْبَرِ عَلَى أَعْدَائِهِ وَأَوْزَعَهُ شُكْرَ النَّعْمَاءِ؛
خُصُوصًا أَفْضَلَ نَعْمَائِهِ:
بِمَا مَنَّ اللَّهُ بِهِ سُبْحَانَهُ مِنْ النَّصْرِ الْعَزِيزِ لِلْإِسْلَامِ وَلِلسُّنَّةِ وَأَهْلِهَا عَلَى حِزْبِ الشَّيْطَانِ وَأَوْلِيَائِهِ.
أَمَّا بَعْدُ:
فَإِنِّي أَحْمَدُ إلَيْك اللَّهَ الَّذِي لَا إلَهَ إلَّا هُوَ وَهُوَ لِلْحَمْدِ أَهْلٌ، وَأُصَلِّي عَلَى نَبِيِّهِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَلَيْهِ أَفْضَلُ الصَّلَاةِ وَالسَّلَامِ. وَأُعَرِّفُهُ بِمَا مَنَّ اللَّهُ سُبْحَانَهُ عَلَيْنَا وَعَلَى الْمُسْلِمِينَ أَجْمَعِينَ بِالنَّصْرِ الْأَكْبَرِ وَالْفَتْحِ الْمُبِينِ. وَهُوَ وَإِنْ كَانَتْ الْعُقُولُ تَعْجِزُ عَنْ دَرْكِهِ عَلَى التَّفْضِيلِ وَالْأَلْسُنِ عَنْ وَصْفِهِ عَنْ التَّكْمِيلِ. لَكِنْ نَذْكُرُ مِنْهُ مَا يَسَّرَ اللَّهُ سُبْحَانَهُ مُلَخَّصًا خَالِيًا عَنْ التَّطْوِيلِ.
