in an absolute sense, as the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said to Ibn ‘Abbās:
“When you ask, ask Allah; and when you seek help, seek help from Allah.”
When the Messenger, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, denies something concerning himself, he speaks the truth and is worthy of belief in that regard, just as he speaks the truth and is worthy of belief in everything he reports, whether denying or affirming. We must believe everything he reports, whether denying or affirming. Whoever rejects his report out of reverence for him resembles the Christians who, out of reverence for Christ, disbelieved him when he declared himself a servant. We may deny what he denied, and no one may contradict his denial under any circumstances. And Allah knows best.
