He was asked:
Some people travelled from one village to another to attend the Friday prayer, but found that the prayer had already begun. Some of them had not performed ablution, and if one of them went to perform it, he would miss the prayer. May he perform dry ablution?
He answered:
There is disagreement on this issue. The stronger view is that if they can only attend the Friday prayer by performing dry ablution, they should perform dry ablution and pray. And Allah knows best.
He was asked:
A traveller reaches water when little time remains for the prayer. If he occupies himself with obtaining it, the prescribed time will expire. May he pray after performing dry ablution?
He answered:
If a traveller reaches water when little time remains for the prayer, he should pray after performing dry ablution, according to the majority of scholars. The same applies if there is a well, but he cannot make a rope to draw water from it before the prescribed time expires, or if water can be reached by digging, but the digging cannot be completed before the prescribed time expires. In either case, he should pray after performing dry ablution.
