by bathing in the usual manner. Thus, praying after sunrise is, in his case, praying at the time Allah has commanded. And Allah knows best.

He was asked:

Concerning a man who entered a state of major ritual impurity and awoke after dawn had broken: he intended to bathe but feared that the sun would rise, so he performed ablution and prayed, then bathed after the prayer. Is his prayer valid or not?

He answered:

If he enters a state of major ritual impurity, he must bathe and pray within the prescribed time; he may not delay bathing. If he awakens only at sunrise, most scholars say that he should bathe and pray after sunrise, and must not pray while in a state of major ritual impurity. Some, however, say that he should pray within the prescribed time after performing both ablution and dry ablution. But the first opinion is more correct. And Allah knows best.

He was asked:

Concerning someone in a state of major ritual impurity who, while not travelling, awakens shortly before the prescribed prayer time ends: should he perform dry ablution and pray within the prescribed time, or bathe and pray after the time has ended?

مِنْ الِاغْتِسَالِ الْمُعْتَادِ فَيَكُونُ فِعْلُهَا بَعْدَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ فِعْلًا فِي الْوَقْتِ الَّذِي أَمَرَ اللَّهُ بِالصَّلَاةِ فِيهِ. وَاَللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ. وَسُئِلَ: عَنْ رَجُلٍ أَجْنَبَ وَاسْتَيْقَظَ وَقَدْ طَلَعَ الْفَجْرُ ثُمَّ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَغْتَسِلَ فَخَافَ أَنْ تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ فَتَوَضَّأَ وَصَلَّى وَبَعْدَ الصَّلَاةِ اغْتَسَلَ فَهَلْ تُجْزِئُ الصَّلَاةُ أَمْ لَا؟ . فَأَجَابَ: إذَا أَدْرَكَتْهُ الْجَنَابَةُ فَعَلَيْهِ أَنْ يَغْتَسِلَ وَيُصَلِّيَ فِي الْوَقْتِ وَلَيْسَ لَهُ أَنْ يُؤَخِّرَ الْغُسْلَ فَإِنْ كَانَ لَمْ يَسْتَيْقِظْ إلَّا وَقْتَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ فَأَكْثَرُ الْعُلَمَاءِ يَقُولُونَ: يَغْتَسِلُ وَيُصَلِّي بَعْدَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ وَلَا يُصَلِّي جُنُبًا وَبَعْضُهُمْ قَالَ: يُصَلِّي فِي الْوَقْتِ بِالْوُضُوءِ وَالتَّيَمُّمِ لَكِنَّ الْأَوَّلَ أَصَحُّ وَاَللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ. وَسُئِلَ: عَنْ الْجُنُبِ إذَا انْتَبَهَ مَنْ نَوْمِهِ وَهُوَ فِي الْحَضَرِ قَبْلَ خُرُوجِ الْوَقْتِ بِقَلِيلِ هَلْ يَتَيَمَّمُ وَيُصَلِّي فِي الْوَقْتِ؟ أَوْ يَغْتَسِلُ وَيُصَلِّي بَعْدَ خُرُوجِ الْوَقْتِ؟ .
